About the position

The Cartographer position at ManTech involves enhancing the production capacity of Digital Nautical Charts (DNC) and Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) to improve response times and quality for customer requests. The role focuses on evaluating various data sources, updating maritime features, and utilizing advanced GIS tools to support national security efforts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate sources of rasterized nautical charts, ENC, digital hydrographic survey data, and Notices to Mariners to produce project packages.
• Compile or update maritime features and attributes for the DNC/ENC portfolio using ArcGIS and ESRI-based workstations.
• Extract features from various sources including nautical charts and orthorectified imagery.
• Write Python scripts in ArcGIS to enhance production efficiency.
• Perform data conversion and migration.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in cartographic finishing and feature extraction from maps and charts.
• Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS and PLTS.
• Ability to geo-rectify maps and charts.
• Familiarity with NGA products and services.
• Knowledge of geographic names information from the GNDB.
