About the position

As a Cartographer at Booz Allen, you will leverage your expertise in cartographic standardization and geospatial analysis to transform map data into actionable intelligence for the national security sector. Collaborating with a team of graphic designers and intelligence analysts, you will utilize tools like ArcGIS and Map Publisher to create geographic databases and visualizations that support critical decision-making processes. Your role will involve maintaining and developing cartographic products, ensuring timely delivery of information to analysts and briefers, and contributing to the overall mission of enhancing national security.

Responsibilities

  • Extract meaning and context from various data sources to support intelligence community needs.
  • Develop geographic databases, including shapefiles, hard copy maps, rasters, vectors, imagery, and geographic data.
  • Conduct cartographic-based requests for clients and create density graphics and heat maps.
  • Utilize cartography tools such as ArcGIS Maps, ArcGIS Pro, Remote View, and ArcMap to produce effective cartographic products.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and intelligence analysts to ensure timely information delivery.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience with cartography.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Adobe Suite, ArcGIS, Map Publisher plug-in, Google Earth, and KML.
  • Knowledge of cartographic design principles, including color theory, symbology, and map projections.
  • Understanding of GIS principles, including data types, data layers, and geographic coordinate systems.
  • Ability to apply IC and DoD classification guidelines and procedures.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to take a polygraph exam.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cartography, Geography, or Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
