About the position

Our client is seeking a Cartographer Journeyman for a role in Springfield, VA. The candidate will work within a government/contractor team environment, providing Digital Nautical Chart Production and Notice to Mariners support for existing and developing mission areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide Digital Nautical Chart Production and Notice to Mariners support.
• Work within a government/contractor team environment.
• Create shapefiles, geo-databases, and features.
• Conduct geospatial analysis using GIS software.
• Prepare source material for digitizing and attribution.

Requirements

• ACTIVE TS/SCI security clearance and willingness to obtain a polygraph-level clearance upon request.
• 3+ years of relevant experience, with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field counting for up to 4 years of experience.
• Expertise in geography, cartography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Skills in ArcGIS applications.
• Knowledge of geospatial analysis software suites (e.g., ArcGIS, ERDAS, SocetSet).
• Expertise in research information gathering from primary legal documents and historical maps.
• Experience in preparing and digitizing source materials, applying projection, datum, and coordinate transformations.
