The GIS / Cartographic Analyst - Journeyman will be an integral part of a government/contractor team, focusing on the production and review of Digital Nautical Charts (DNC) and Electronic Nautical Charts (ENC). This role involves a variety of cartographic and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) functions, aimed at supporting existing and developing mission areas. The analyst will be responsible for converting and producing nautical charts, utilizing various data sources such as rasterized nautical charts, digital hydrographic survey data, and ortho-rectified imagery. The position also includes updating source catalogs and information, as well as data conversion and migration tasks. Additionally, the analyst will engage in script writing and generation to enhance the efficiency of the production process, ensuring that the team meets its operational goals effectively. The role requires a strong foundation in geography, cartography, and GIS, with a particular emphasis on the ability to analyze both imagery and non-imagery source information. This analysis is crucial for the application to National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) hydrographic products and databases. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the team, contributing to the development of future capabilities and participating in various developmental assignments as needed. This position is essential for maintaining the high standards of nautical chart production and ensuring that the data provided meets the rigorous requirements of the agency.
