About the position

This position is for a Case Management Specialist, also referred to as a Junior Legal Assistant, at our law firm. The role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the legal field. The Case Management Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and compiling legal documents to support processing, managing the workflow of files, and ensuring that court deadlines are met. This position requires regular communication with attorneys and the courts to gather necessary details and obtain updates on cases. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent time management and analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The Case Management Specialist will sort, file, locate, and distribute legal documentation to the department and attorneys. They will review and assemble legal documents and materials for court proceedings, ensuring that all necessary signatures are obtained, documents are notarized, and appropriate exhibits are attached. Additionally, the specialist will obtain missing or updated information through various means such as telephone, internet, mail, and fax. Monitoring the account case status and advancing accounts to the appropriate next case action is also a critical part of the role. The position involves photocopying, faxing, e-filing, and mailing documents, as well as contacting courts to verify the service of documents and checking the status of cases and filings.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts, files, locates, and distributes legal documentation to the department and WWR Attorneys
  • Reviews and assembles legal documents and materials for court proceedings, ensuring proper signatures are obtained, documents are notarized, appropriate exhibits are attached, etc.
  • Obtains missing and/or updated information via telephone, internet, mail, and fax
  • Monitors the account case status and advances accounts to appropriate next case action as needed
  • Photocopies, faxes, e-files and mails documents
  • Contacts courts to verify service of documents
  • Checks status of cases and filings

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1 year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute with accuracy, 10 key a plus
  • Detail oriented and analytical skills
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Legal experience preferred
