About the position

The Case Management Specialist at Centinela Youth Services, Inc. is responsible for providing comprehensive strengths-based case management services to youth involved in or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. This role focuses on conducting assessments, developing individualized service plans, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure effective support for youth and their families. The position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring both remote work and field visits across Los Angeles County.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and assessment for youth and families.
  • Provide case planning, coordination, and advocacy services.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of the needs of youth and their families.
  • Develop individualized service plans in collaboration with community resources.
  • Support youth in achieving emotional, behavioral, and mental health stability.
  • Provide crisis prevention, intervention, and safety planning services.
  • Maintain regular contact with service providers and monitor youth progress.
  • Act as a Mandated Reporter of suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
  • Prepare case histories, reports, and maintain confidential records.
  • Engage in individual supervision and participate in ongoing case reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, sociology, human services, psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum two years of working experience with diverse youth and families or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience providing in-home and/or community-based direct services to families.
  • Basic understanding of Restorative Justice concepts and practices.
  • Moderate understanding of trauma's effects on behavior development.
  • Ability to perform initial assessments of youth and family needs and develop service plans.
  • Skilled in spotting red flags and knowing when to seek consultation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in social work and a minimum of 1 year of experience working with diverse youth and families.
  • Experience or knowledge of Restorative Justice.
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing.
  • Social Justice oriented.
