About the position

The Case Management Supervisor at the HRA/Department of Social Services is responsible for overseeing a team of Benefits Opportunity Specialists (BOS) who assist individuals and families in accessing social services and achieving self-sufficiency. This role involves supervising eligibility determination processes, financial planning, and employment planning, while ensuring compliance with agency regulations. The supervisor will also prepare reports, conduct case consultations, and manage comprehensive service delivery for participants.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of BOS workers handling application processes for new applicants and reopened cases.
  • Assign applications to staff and review recommendations for benefits approval.
  • Supervise interviews and assessments for eligibility for immediate needs grants and public assistance programs.
  • Prepare daily and weekly statistical reports and conduct monthly audits.
  • Assist with case consultations and provide guidance on complex cases.
  • Manage ongoing eligibility assessments and develop Employment Assessment and Employment Plans for participants.
  • Review employment eligibility decisions for compliance with agency rules and regulations.
  • Conduct Mandatory Dispute Resolution functions and supervise staff interactions with homebound clients.
  • Ensure quick service for walk-in or telephone clients and manage reported changes in cases.
  • Supervise housing needs assessments for tenants at risk of homelessness and assist in developing intervention plans.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED and three years of experience in social/human services or related fields.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college plus 18 months of experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or in a related role.
  • Experience in client services, employment planning, or economic opportunity programming.
