About the position

The Case Manager at Hands of Healing will oversee the safe and timely release of unaccompanied children (UC) within the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) timeframes. This role involves conducting program orientations, developing safety plans, and collaborating with clinicians to address the immediate needs of UC. The Case Manager will also manage documentation, maintain communication with various stakeholders, and ensure compliance with ORR policies while providing comprehensive case management services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct program orientation for unaccompanied children (UC) within 24 hours of placement.
  • Collaborate with designated Clinician to address immediate needs of UC through assessments.
  • Develop safety plans for UC with identified risks or needs.
  • Gather required information for the safe release of UC, including verifying family relationships and screening for risks.
  • Send family reunification packets to sponsors within 24 hours of identification.
  • Submit service plans and assessments for comprehensive case files as per policies.
  • Maintain communication with Clinician regarding UC at risk of abuse or harassment.
  • Document safety and well-being follow-up calls and report safety concerns.
  • Track and monitor UC's progress to ensure comprehensive service provision.
  • Serve as liaison between ORR, DHS, Border Patrol, and legal services.
  • Plan and coordinate departmental meetings and case staffing.
  • Conduct monthly random file audits and review safety plans.
  • Submit daily reports to ORR, including capacity counts and discharge reports.
  • Attend required trainings and departmental meetings to stay updated on policies.
  • Assist in the evacuation of youth during emergencies or inclement weather.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, or related field; or a Bachelor's degree with 1 year of supervisory and case management experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to drive for program services.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results and background check.
  • At least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

  • Experience in crisis intervention and behavior management.
  • Knowledge of ORR policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with youth in a care setting.
