About the position

The position involves providing paraprofessional behavioral health and social services to clients and their families, focusing on improving their quality of life. The role includes organizing and facilitating groups, participating in treatment planning, and performing crisis intervention. The candidate will assist clients in developing daily living skills and connecting them with community resources, while also monitoring their progress towards treatment goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a broad range of paraprofessional behavioral health and social services to clients and their families.
  • Organizes and facilitates groups under supervision.
  • Participates in treatment team planning and performs crisis intervention.
  • Teaches daily living skills to clients and monitors/document progress toward treatment goals.
  • Assists clients in dealing with personal and social problems.
  • Provides support to clients and families and/or serves as a liaison for social services.
  • Focuses on skill development and assists with linkage to resources.
  • Transports clients as needed, using personal vehicle when necessary.
  • Assists clients in locating and utilizing community resources including legal, medical, financial assistance, and other referral services.
  • Implements and organizes the delivery of specific social services within the community.
  • Implements life skills workshops and programs in behavior management, youth services, community, and social services.
  • Maintains contact with other social service agencies and healthcare providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback on clients' overall progress.
  • Monitors clients' progress towards treatment goals.
  • Provides short-term case management and referral services to clients with emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Counseling or related field.
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Counseling or related field and 1 year of experience working in a community mental health setting providing direct services.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in social services delivery.
