About the position

The Case Manager II position at The Salvation Army focuses on providing support to families residing in the shelter, helping them progress towards self-sufficiency and access to supportive services. This role employs a strength-based, client-centric approach to case management, ensuring that each family receives the necessary resources and guidance to improve their situation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessment intake on residents to gather personal history.
  • Assess additional resources and agencies that may benefit residents and make referrals accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate written case notes for each resident interviewed.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the center.
  • Meet with assigned families weekly for updates and guidance.
  • Distribute supplies and belongings to clients.
  • Implement center policies and procedures in daily work.
  • Conduct searches of belongings in a proper manner.
  • Maintain records in a timely, accurate, and orderly manner.
  • Participate in required training as directed by the Social Services Director.
  • Maintain records related to grant administration.
  • Prioritize the welfare of each resident.
  • Manage the step/phase program effectively.
  • Provide input for necessary educational programming.
  • Collaborate with other center staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Actively support the mission and goals of The Salvation Army.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in human services or a minimum of one year working with displaced clients; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in Case Management or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information to small groups.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and professionalism.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with diverse populations.
  • Strong problem-solving, listening, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize according to deadlines.
  • Proficient in filing and maintaining files accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Ulti-Pro or similar software programs.
  • Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.
