About the position

Hiller Comerford Injury & Disability Law, PLLC, a busy law firm located in Amherst, NY, is seeking a dedicated Case Manager/Legal Assistant to join our VA Disability Department. This full-time position requires a candidate who is not only reliable and highly organized but also possesses excellent communication skills, particularly over the phone. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and will be responsible for managing various aspects of casework related to VA disability claims. The role involves handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism, ensuring that all client interactions are conducted with the utmost respect and care. As a Case Manager/Legal Assistant, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to the effective management of cases. This includes taking and placing calls to prospective and current clients, as well as VA offices, to facilitate communication and gather necessary information. You will also be responsible for reviewing and processing all incoming mail, submitting documents to the VA, and drafting letters as required. Tracking deadlines and completing daily tasks in our Case Management Software System will be essential to ensure that all cases are managed efficiently and effectively. Additionally, you may be required to perform any other tasks necessary to support the case management process. This position operates on a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and is based in-person at our Amherst office. Candidates must have at least an Associate's degree or higher to qualify for this role. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher is required
  • Experience in a legal setting is preferred
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Reliable and highly organized
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
