About the position

The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a full-time Administrative Officer III (Case Manager/Paralegal) to provide essential case management and administrative support to the Assistant Attorneys General representing the Maryland Cannabis Administration. This role involves managing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring effective organization and preparation for litigation, and contributing to the development of operational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and administrative support to Assistant Attorneys General.
  • Draft correspondence and maintain filing and organization systems.
  • File documents electronically in courts and administrative tribunals.
  • Organize and assemble records for discovery and litigation preparation.
  • Track attorney deadlines and act as a liaison between AAGs and the agency.
  • Review and organize discovery materials, including document privilege/redaction.
  • Assemble exhibit binders and review investigative reports to ensure completeness of files.
  • Ensure that legal documents and correspondence related to cases are current and maintained.
  • Assist in evaluating operational efficiency and recommend new policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Three years of administrative staff or professional work experience.
  • Substitution of 30 college credit hours for each year of required experience (up to two years).
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree can substitute for the required experience.
  • U.S. Armed Forces military service experience can substitute for the required experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
  • Experience performing legal research and preparing legal documents for attorneys.
  • Knowledge of civil litigation or administrative proceedings.
