About the position

The Case Manager Unit Supervisor - Behavioral Health position at the Department of Economic Security involves overseeing a team of case managers who provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality, member-driven support, supervising staff, and developing Individual Support Plans (ISP) to meet the needs of clients. The supervisor will also engage in community collaboration and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs work activities of subordinate staff; provides necessary training.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to staff regarding development, implementation, or monitoring of member Individual Support Plans (ISP).
  • Completes performance evaluations for staff members.
  • Reviews cases assigned to the work unit and assesses needs to assign cases to staff members.
  • Reviews Individual Support Plans developed by Support Coordinators to ensure member needs are met.
  • Attends and facilitates meetings with staff and community organizations.
  • Meets with subordinate staff to identify necessary changes to Individual Support Plans.
  • Develops support plans for complex cases and counsels members and families.
  • Reviews, verifies, and authorizes expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Prepares reports relating to cases assigned to the work unit.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid RN License or a Bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, or counseling with a minimum of three years of case management experience and three years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state statutes related to the care of persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in case management methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to analyze issues and develop positive solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
