About the position

The Case Manager Unit Supervisor position at the Arizona Department of Economic Security involves overseeing a team of case managers who provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality, member-driven support, facilitating the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), and managing staff performance. The supervisor will also engage with community organizations and governmental representatives to enhance service delivery and compliance with established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs work activities of subordinate staff; provides necessary training.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to staff regarding development, implementation, or monitoring of member Individual Support Plans (ISP).
  • Completes performance evaluations for subordinate staff.
  • Reviews cases assigned to the work unit; assesses needs and assigns cases to staff members.
  • Reviews Individual Support Plans developed by Support Coordinators to ensure member needs are met.
  • Ensures assignment area is completed within established timelines in compliance with quality standards.
  • Attends and facilitates meetings, including staff meetings and district supervisory meetings.
  • Meets with subordinate staff to assist with identifying necessary changes and modifications to Individual Support Plans.
  • Develops support plans for the most difficult and complex cases assigned to the work unit.
  • Interviews and counsels members and family members; makes modifications to the Individual plan as necessary.

Requirements

  • An Arizona Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing OR a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work with a minimum of three (3) years case management experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education, or Counseling with a minimum of three (3) years of case management experience and three (3) years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Statutes, agency policies and procedures relating to the care and treatment of persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Skills in oral and written communication, workload management, leadership, team building, and group facilitation.
  • Ability to assess needs and determine suitability of Individual Family Support Plans/Individual Service Plans, teaching, and coaching/training.
