About the position

The Case Manager for the Young Adult Housing Program (YAHP) is responsible for empowering youth aged 18-24 by providing rental assistance and intensive case management. This role focuses on equipping young individuals with the necessary skills to achieve independence and maintain unsubsidized housing, while implementing program guidelines and engaging with the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services to program youth using a strengths-based approach and Trauma Informed Care techniques.
  • Conduct outreach activities to potential program youth.
  • Arrange and facilitate interviews for clients seeking enrollment into the program.
  • Implement selection process to screen and enroll program youth.
  • Enter program youth into the homeless client management information system, meeting all due dates and timelines.
  • Develop relationships with local landlords and housing authorities to secure apartment opportunities for program youth.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate regular group events for youth, including roommate facilitation meetings and budgeting/savings meetings.
  • Teach youth independent living skills to support self-sufficiency.
  • Assist youth in reaching their personal goals and maintaining their housing status.
  • Provide financial literacy training to help youth acquire economic self-sufficiency.
  • Evaluate each program youth's eligibility and compliance with program policies and procedures.
  • Educate program youth on tenant/landlord rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide rental assistance payments in a timely manner directly to vendors on behalf of youth.
  • Coordinate services with other foster youth program staff within Youth Services.
  • Participate in trainings and supervision appropriate to the position.
  • Work as part of a team with other Youth Services staff.
  • Attend local homeless coalition meetings.
  • Support program offerings in Youth Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Passion for empowering youth and helping them access vital resources.
  • Experience in case management or related field.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to develop relationships with landlords and housing authorities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with homeless or at-risk youth.
  • Familiarity with community resources and services for youth.
  • Skills in financial literacy training.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $22.00 to $27.00.
  • Full-time position with scheduled work hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
