About the position

The Case Manager at Morgan State University is responsible for promoting holistic student well-being by providing support and follow-up for students navigating difficult life events and crisis situations. This role involves facilitating interactions with students in distress through trauma-informed care, conducting assessments, and providing advocacy and referrals. The Case Manager also leads programming and training for faculty, staff, and students, and collaborates with community health providers and resources to ensure comprehensive support for students.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Case Manager for students experiencing challenges and/or posing a risk of harm to self and/or others.
  • Utilize a case management database to manage referrals and track student data.
  • Establish a comprehensive plan of care utilizing on-campus and off-campus resources.
  • Collaborate with campus partners on overlapping cases.
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled CARE Team meetings.
  • Communicate with external healthcare and case management partners when students are hospitalized.
  • Advocate for students navigating academic, physical health, and mental health challenges.
  • Initiate and develop relationships with off-campus resources and providers.
  • Identify and apply for funding opportunities addressing student needs.
  • Create and deliver outreach education and resources for students and staff.
  • Provide leadership and training related to helping skills and critical incident response.
  • Assess data trends for the CARE Team and assist with reporting.
  • Remain current on best practices and emerging strategies in case management.
  • Perform ongoing research of community services and provide accurate information on available resources.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Counselor, Social Worker, or Case Manager.
  • Experience utilizing Case Management Software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, planning, reasoning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with promoting inclusivity.
  • Strong public speaking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with a college student population.
  • Experience in crisis response processes.
  • Knowledge of mental health and basic needs services for college students.
  • Understanding of the needs of diverse student backgrounds.
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical (LCSW-C).
