Responsibilities

• Assess individuals in jail for the presence of mental illness or co-occurring disorders.
• Link individuals determined to have mental illness or co-occurring disorders to appropriate NCSB programs.
• Serve as the agency liaison to the BRRJ and NCJ.
• Utilize knowledge of mental health and substance abuse concepts to inform assessments and interventions.
• Implement case management concepts and crisis intervention techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
• Extensive experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and substance abuse disorders.
• Knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria and psychotropic medications.
• Understanding of Medicaid/Medicare and state licensure requirements.
• Familiarity with client rights regulations and community resources.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in addiction counseling.
