About the position

The Caseworker Coach II position at Catholic Charities focuses on assisting residents in developing housing plans and overcoming barriers to end their homelessness. This role involves collaborating with community resources and providing support to women in a low-barrier, housing-focused shelter. Responsibilities

  • Welcome and orient new shelter guests, completing intakes and explaining program routines.
  • Meet with new residents within 48-72 hours to identify strengths and barriers to resolving homelessness.
  • Establish housing plans and realistic goals in collaboration with residents, achievable within 120 days.
  • Provide information about resources to assist residents in achieving their goals, focusing on housing, income, and skill development.
  • Offer diversion and housing navigation services when available.
  • Complete the Vulnerability Index-Service Prioritization and Decision Assistance Tool (VI-SPDAT) as appropriate.
  • Review resident files weekly to assess progress and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain knowledge of county-wide resources for people experiencing homelessness.
  • Participate in case management, training, and program meetings as directed.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and external agencies to provide comprehensive services.
  • Document all resident contacts and maintain accurate records in Clarity HMIS and CES.
  • Complete and submit required monthly reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Work with Property Management and RTFH to fill vacant units through referrals from CES.
  • Assist clients and Case Managers with the application process for housing.
  • Provide ongoing support and case management to ensure client retention and service coordination.
  • Maintain documentation regarding client progress and services received.
  • Model professional rapport with clients and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Human Services, social or behavioral sciences, or related field, or a minimum of two years of equivalent experience in case management/navigation with people experiencing homelessness.
  • Minimum one year of experience serving people experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, or mental illness.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and experience applying TI approaches.
  • Solid knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Housing First, and harm reduction approaches.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with database software.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.
