About the position

The Cash Accountant at Trader Joe's is responsible for managing all cash handling activities for East Coast stores, including processing refunds, charges, deposits, and reconciliations. This role requires interfacing with stores, armored carriers, and banks to resolve cash discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a passion for the Trader Joe's brand.

Responsibilities

• Manage all cash handling activities for East Coast stores, including deposits and reconciliations.
• Interface with stores, armored carriers, and banks to resolve cash discrepancies.
• Reconcile depository and coin order bank accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Follow up with armored carriers and banks on missing deposits and file claims within the 90-day timeframe.
• Email stores daily regarding any deposit discrepancies received from the bank.
• Prepare a weekly discrepancy recap for regional management.
• Act as the main point of contact for stores on cash handling questions, including counterfeit bills and coin orders.
• Assist with new store openings by setting up bank sub-accounts and coordinating cash handling logistics.
• Handle customer inquiries related to duplicate charges, refunds, and fraud concerns.
• Collaborate with other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in accounting.
• Retail or banking customer service experience.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and intermediate skills in Word and MS Office.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines.
