About the position
The Cash Management Specialist at MSPCA-Angell is responsible for ensuring accurate cash handling and reconciliations for the organization's veterinary hospital, clinics, and shelter locations. This full-time position collaborates with accounting colleagues to maintain high service standards and involves direct communication with front office and shelter supervisors to resolve discrepancies. The role includes processing cash transactions, preparing deposits, and maintaining financial records.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile financial transactions between various payment systems and veterinary hospital software to identify variances.
- Accurately document cash transactions for veterinary hospital practices, clinics, shelters, and other programs.
- Communicate discrepancies in a knowledgeable and compassionate manner, including additional follow-up as needed.
- Prepare accurate weekly cash deposits for Boston programs.
- Scan and deposit checks for all receivables, including a variable volume of donations.
- Maintain accurate petty cash and provide petty cash services as needed.
- Match operating bank transactions to financial activity from various Society programs.
- Maintain timely data entry of operating bank transactions into financial software.
- Sort incoming mail and process outgoing mail on a back-up basis.
- Maintain perpetual trust spreadsheet, organize and file annual statements and other financial records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 years of experience in an office environment
- Experience with cash handling is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
