About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is seeking a Cash Operations Specialist Lead to oversee the daily workflow of currency and coin activities within a specific department. This role is critical to ensuring the effective and efficient operation of cash handling processes. The Cash Operations Specialist Lead will manage day-to-day operations with minimal supervision, ensuring that team members perform their essential duties effectively. This position requires a high level of independent judgment and discretion, particularly in maintaining custody and accountability in a valuables handling environment. In this lead role, the Cash Operations Specialist will utilize advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools, gained through extensive work experience, to achieve operational targets that impact the overall results of the department. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert, guiding and influencing team members both within and outside the job area. Responsibilities include training, delegating tasks, and reviewing the work of junior employees, as well as resolving problems that arise during operations. The Cash Operations Specialist Lead will coordinate workflow, manage inventory levels, and escalate issues as necessary. This role may also involve cross-training in multiple areas of Cash Operations, including compliance team support for offsite reviews. The position is based in Cleveland, Ohio, and operates during third shift hours from Monday to Thursday, 5 PM to 4 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily workflow of currency/coin activities to ensure effective and efficient operation of a specific department function.
  • Manage day-to-day operations with little supervision, ensuring team members perform their essential accountabilities.
  • Verify and balance daily activity to account for the teams or department holdings.
  • Apply independent judgment and discretion within the framework of governing procedures to maintain custody and accountability.
  • Lead other team members through delegation and review to achieve operational targets.
  • Train, delegate, and review the work of junior level employees.
  • Communicate and lead the resolution of problems encountered by the teams.
  • Adjust and enhance working methods to improve effectiveness of the area.
  • Coordinate workflow, escalate issues, and manage inventory levels and resources.
  • Serve in designated supervisory roles and assist in other areas of Cash Operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 7 years of related work experience OR
  • Two years of college and 5 years of related work experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Expert level attention to detail, with experience strictly following procedures.
  • Expert level customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and other online applications as needed for the role.
  • Expert level knowledge of cash operations and prescribed operating procedures, safety, security, and compliance standards.
