About the position

As a Cashier at JCPenney, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the sales experience. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain high checkout standards while assisting with various operational tasks such as Omnichannel support, inventory management, and recovery processes. You will be expected to uphold performance standards related to shrink and safety, ensuring that you meet the established benchmarks associated with your role. This position requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where you will greet and assist customers, resolve issues, and promote various sales programs, including credit, rewards, and gift card initiatives. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for completing checkout processes, which include handling returns and re-ticketing items. You will assist in maintaining merchandising standards at all checkout areas, ensuring that impulse fixtures are stocked and replenished as needed. Utilizing the Point of Sale on the Mobile Warrior device, you will support line management and call for assistance when necessary. Your role will also involve participating in annual inventory processes and contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the store. To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate core competencies such as problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to inspire strong performance in yourself and others. You will be expected to provide great customer service, build positive relationships, and take accountability for your actions and outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers while providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate WORTH behaviors consistently and partner with others for additional support.
  • Actively engage customers to resolve problems and assist with credit, rewards, and gift card programs.
  • Promote Findmore and other sales-enhancing programs.
  • Complete checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing.
  • Assist with signing and merchandising standards at all checkouts.
  • Stock and merchandise impulse fixtures and replenishment as needed.
  • Call for assistance proactively when additional help is needed in checkout.
  • Utilize Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior device to support line management.
  • Assist with Omnichannel efforts and recovery processes as needed.
  • Participate in annual inventory processes.
  • Support company shrink and safety initiatives.
