The Cashier will be responsible for accurately receiving and processing payments for purchases using various methods, including cash, checks, gift cards, credit and debit cards, and coupons. Additionally, the Cashier must follow documented procedures for processing payments involving government assistance programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines. In this role, the Cashier will also be tasked with issuing customer receipts and providing change accurately. It is essential for the Cashier to identify products using PLUs, scales, or produce numbers and to operate electronic cash registers and other related equipment competently. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance at the front end of the store is vital, as is the ability to resolve customer complaints effectively. The Cashier will be expected to know and implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards and comply with health regulations and safety procedures. The position requires strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions with customers and peers, as well as basic math and reading skills. The Cashier may also be involved in training new cashiers and promoting sales by suggesting additional products or services. Physical demands of the job include standing for long periods, lifting and carrying items, and performing various movements such as bending and squatting. Overall, the Cashier plays a key role in the store's operations and customer satisfaction, contributing to the overall success of Cosentino's Price Chopper.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in their shopping experience by processing sales transactions efficiently and courteously.
• Accurately receive and process payments for purchases using various methods including cash, checks, gift cards, credit and debit cards, and coupons.
• Follow documented procedures for processing payments involving government assistance programs.
• Issue customer receipts and provide accurate change to customers.
• Identify products using PLUs, scales, or produce numbers.
• Operate electronic cash registers, scanners, and check verification equipment.
• Utilize proper bagging and cashiering techniques to minimize product damage and reduce shrink.
• Ensure the front end is clean and presents a professional appearance for customers.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve store management when necessary.
• Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards and comply with health regulations and safety procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of store items, procedures, and policies to answer customer questions accurately.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards to achieve desired results.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions with customers and peers.

Requirements

• A valid liquor license must be obtained prior to the first day on the job (if applicable).
• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
