About the position

The Cashier/Customer Service Associate position at our family-owned retail garden center involves providing exceptional customer service and handling transactions efficiently. The role requires a friendly and outgoing personality, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The associate will be responsible for operating the cash register, assisting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.
• Operate cash register/POS systems accurately.
• Collect customer payments and make accurate change for cash transactions.
• Answer phone calls with correct and concise information.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including the front register area and break room.
• Assist customers with inquiries and provide information about products.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Familiarity and proficiency in operating cash register/POS systems.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Ability to multi-task effectively.
• Organized, efficient, motivated, and team-oriented.
• Passionate about the outdoors and plants, including houseplants (preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
