About the position
The Cashier/Customer Service Associate position at our family-owned retail garden center involves providing exceptional customer service and handling transactions efficiently. The role requires a friendly and outgoing personality, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The associate will be responsible for operating the cash register, assisting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.
- Operate cash register/POS systems accurately.
- Collect customer payments and make accurate change for cash transactions.
- Answer phone calls with correct and concise information.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including the front register area and break room.
- Assist customers with inquiries and provide information about products.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Familiarity and proficiency in operating cash register/POS systems.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Organized, efficient, motivated, and team-oriented.
- Passionate about the outdoors and plants, including houseplants (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice-to-haves
- Bi-lingual is a plus.
