About the position

The Cashier/Customer Service Representative at Main Sunoco is responsible for managing sales transactions and providing exceptional customer service. This part-time role involves operating the cash register, handling payments, and assisting customers both inside the store and at the pumps. The position requires attention to detail and adherence to company policies regarding cash handling and customer interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cash register and all point-of-sale equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Quickly and accurately scan and bag all items.
  • Receive payment by cash, credit/debit cards, or gift cards in accordance with store procedures.
  • Issue change, refunds, or credits due to customers with appropriate receipts for each transaction.
  • Process merchandise returns and/or exchanges in accordance with store policies.
  • Redeem food stamps and coupons if applicable.
  • Follow all Company credit card, cash, merchandise handling policies, including lottery, tobacco sales, and gas station loyalty programs.
  • Count money in cash drawer and coin box at the beginning and end of shift to ensure amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Calculate total payments received during the shift and reconcile this with total cash sales according to the shift report.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
  • Initiate assistance for customers as needed inside and outside the store at pumps.
  • Resolve and report customer complaints tactfully and promptly.
  • Maintain clean appearance of the store and all equipment on a daily basis.
  • Stock walk-in cooler and other racks or equipment as assigned by the Manager.
  • Accept and check in vendor deliveries; pay by cash to cash vendors.
  • Receive incoming telephone calls and take accurate messages for appropriate person.
  • Compile shift reports and other reports & records required by management.
  • Maintain adequate stock of paper forms for the cash register area, and notify the Manager when additional supplies are needed.
  • Attend store meetings and training sessions as requested.
  • Train new cashiers on approved company procedures.
  • Place cash drops and transaction records into safe in accordance with store procedures on a daily basis.
  • Report any problems or discrepancies to the Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior cashier experience helpful.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Familiarity with cash handling procedures.
