About the position

The Cashier position at El Pollo Loco involves providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The role includes taking orders, processing payments, and ensuring a clean and safe work area. Cashiers are expected to follow food handling procedures and assist in training new team members while maintaining high standards of service and food quality.

Responsibilities

• Follows company food handling and safety procedures.
• Greets guests and takes guest orders, suggesting additional items when appropriate.
• Collects payment and provides correct change, ensuring proper cash handling.
• Counts the register at the start and end of each shift to manage cash shortages or overages.
• Works efficiently to meet or exceed company service time standards for walk-in, mobile ordering, and drive-thru.
• Cleans and sanitizes the work area periodically.
• Supports and assists peers, including expediter and service assistant roles.
• Assists in training new cashiers.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Food handler card is required.
• Must be able to communicate, speak, and read English; a second language is a plus.
• No experience is required, but guest service experience is preferred.
• No formal education is required, but a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be able to observe products and use best judgment to maintain food quality.

Nice-to-haves

• Guest service experience preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
