About the position

As a Cashier at JCPenney, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the sales experience. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain high checkout standards while assisting with various operational tasks, including Omnichannel support, inventory management, and recovery efforts. You will be expected to uphold performance standards related to shrink and safety, ensuring that you meet the established benchmarks associated with your role. This position requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where you will greet and assist customers, resolve issues, and promote various sales programs such as credit, rewards, and gift card initiatives. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for completing checkout processes, which include handling returns and re-ticketing items. You will assist in maintaining merchandising standards at all checkout areas, ensuring that impulse fixtures are stocked and replenished as needed. Utilizing the Point of Sale on the Mobile Warrior device, you will support line management and call for assistance when necessary. Your role will also involve participating in annual inventory processes and contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the store. To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and make smart decisions that drive sales and enhance customer service. You will be expected to execute your work efficiently, inspire performance in yourself and others, and proactively seek ways to improve the customer experience. Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers while providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate WORTH behaviors consistently and partner with others for additional support.
  • Engage customers enthusiastically to resolve problems and assist with credit, rewards, and gift card programs.
  • Promote Findmore and other sales-driving programs to enhance customer service.
  • Complete checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing items.
  • Assist with signing and merchandising standards at all checkouts while stocking and merchandising impulse fixtures.
  • Proactively call for assistance when additional help is needed in checkout.
  • Utilize Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior device to support line management.
  • Assist with Omnichannel efforts as needed and participate in recovery and fitting room maintenance.
  • Support company shrink and safety initiatives and meet established performance standards.
