About the position

The Cashier position at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona involves providing excellent customer service while managing point-of-sale transactions and maintaining store standards. The role is essential in promoting sales and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. Cashiers are responsible for processing payments, greeting customers, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in the store.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Point of Sale (POS) responsibilities and process all forms of payments.
  • Ask each customer for cash donations at POS.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods via the type of merchandise or by asking for help from an on-site leader.
  • Complete closing procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain regular and consistent in-person attendance.
  • Greet customers entering the store and thank customers leaving the establishment.
  • Maintain sales floor by following floorwork and PPM (picture process map) standards.
  • Stock merchandise in appropriate areas as assigned.
  • Utilize systems, including phones and paging systems, to make regularly scheduled announcements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Model Goodwill Core Values - Trust, Collaboration, Engagement, Ownership, and Innovation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent math skills preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and understand instructions, both verbal and written, in English.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
