About the position

As a Cashier at JCPenney, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the sales experience. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain high checkout standards while assisting with various operational tasks such as Omnichannel support, inventory management, and recovery efforts. You will be expected to uphold performance standards related to shrink and safety, ensuring that you meet the established benchmarks associated with your role. This position requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where you will greet and assist customers, resolve issues, and promote various sales programs, including credit, rewards, and gift card initiatives. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for completing checkout processes, which include handling returns and re-ticketing items. You will assist in maintaining merchandising standards at all checkout areas, ensuring that impulse fixtures are stocked and replenished. When necessary, you will call for additional assistance to manage checkout lines effectively, utilizing the Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior devices to streamline operations. Your role will also involve supporting the company's Omnichannel efforts, participating in recovery tasks, and maintaining fitting rooms. You will take part in annual inventory processes, contributing to the overall efficiency of store operations. Meeting performance standards is essential, as you will be expected to support the company's shrink and safety initiatives while consistently achieving goals related to customer service, sales, productivity, and attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists customers while providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrates WORTH behaviors consistently and partners with others for additional support.
  • Actively engages customers to resolve problems and assist with credit, rewards, and gift card programs.
  • Promotes Findmore and other sales-driving programs.
  • Completes checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing.
  • Assists with signing and merchandising standards at all checkouts.
  • Stocks and merchandises impulse fixtures and replenishes as needed.
  • Calls for assistance when additional help is needed in checkout.
  • Utilizes Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior device to support line management.
  • Assists with Omnichannel efforts as needed.
  • Participates in recovery, put backs, and fitting room maintenance.
  • Supports annual inventory processes.
  • Meets established performance standards for the role consistently.
