About the position

The Cashier/Stocker position at Dollar Tree Stores Inc. involves a variety of responsibilities centered around customer service and inventory management. This includes receiving, storing, and issuing sales floor merchandise, as well as taking periodic physical counts of stock to maintain inventory accuracy. You will be expected to greet customers as they enter the store and help establish or identify prices for goods and services. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will need to compare merchandise invoices to ensure that shipments are correct and accurately reflect the items received. This position is seasonal and part-time, with the potential for transitioning into a permanent role based on performance and business needs. Responsibilities

  • Receive and disburse money in establishments other than financial institutions.
  • Use electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment.
  • Process credit or debit card transactions and validate checks.
  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Assist customers by providing information and resolving their complaints.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Greet customers entering establishments.
  • Receive, store, and issue sales floor merchandise.
  • Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with merchandise and arrange merchandise displays to attract customers.
  • Take physical count of stock or check and mark merchandise periodically.
  • Answer customers' questions about merchandise and advise customers on merchandise selection.
  • Stamp, attach, or change price tags on merchandise, referring to price list.
  • Compare merchandise invoices to items actually received to ensure that shipments are correct.
  • Itemize and total customer merchandise selection at checkout counter, using cash register, and accept cash or charge card for purchases.
