About the position

As a Cashier/Stocker at the Envision Base Store located on military bases, you will be responsible for stocking merchandise, operating the cash register, and providing excellent customer service. This position is crucial in ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience while maintaining the store's operational efficiency. You will engage with customers, answer their questions about merchandise, and assist them in selecting products that meet their needs. Your role will also involve safeguarding store assets, managing inventory, and ensuring that the store environment is clean and orderly. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for operating the cash register, which includes itemizing and totaling customer purchases, accepting payments, and packing customer purchases for transport. You will also assist customers with larger purchases, ensuring they are safely transported to their vehicles. Stocking shelves, performing inventory checks, labeling products, and applying merchandising techniques to enhance product presentation are also key responsibilities of this role. Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned is essential, as the needs of the store may vary throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Answer customers' questions about merchandise and assist customers on merchandise selection.
- Operate a cash register; itemize and total customer merchandise selection at checkout counter, and accept cash or charge card for purchases.
- Help ensure the safeguarding of store assets, inventory, and cash.
- Pack customer purchases in bags or cartons.
- Assist customers in transporting large purchases to their vehicles.
- Maintain the store and warehouse in a clean and orderly manner.
- Stock shelves, racks, and bins with merchandise; perform inventory checks on merchandise quantities.
- Label products with barcode labels; apply product merchandising to include facing products, set-up marketing materials and moving merchandise to enhance presentation and sales.
- Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience in retail sales and computer applications preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Basic knowledge of customer service principles, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality service standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to project a professional image to the public.
- Must possess organizational and mathematical skills.
