The Cashier/Checker position at Fred Meyer is focused on delivering outstanding customer service while ensuring a safe and clean environment for customers. Responsibilities
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively.
- Process customer transactions quickly and accurately through the check lane.
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system effectively.
- Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, and SNAP EBT.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions or issues to notify management.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions.
- Stay current with seasonal and special ads.
Requirements
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
