Responsibilities

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases.
  • Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, and coupons accurately.
  • Weigh and bag customer purchases carefully.
  • Understand and efficiently operate check-stand equipment such as registers and scanners.
  • Responsible for merchandising the check-stand with items like newspapers and candy.
  • Ensure proper use of product identification and report pricing errors.
  • Maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations.
  • Communicate company programs and in-store specials to customers.
  • Comply with company policies regarding security and cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department following safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist with stocking items as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
  • Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
