About the position
As a Cashier at Dierbergs Markets, you will be the face of our retail operation, providing exceptional service to our customers. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting customers with a warm smile, engaging in friendly conversations, and ensuring that each customer has a fantastic shopping experience. You will be responsible for scanning items quickly and accurately, operating the register, and monitoring self-checkout stations while accepting various forms of payment, including gift cards, credit and debit cards, EBT cards, and WIC vouchers. In addition to handling transactions, you will use various equipment such as computer terminals, scanners, and printers to assist in your duties. It is essential to verify customer identification for liquor and tobacco purchases in accordance with state laws and Dierbergs policies. You will also be tasked with bagging customers' items with care and loading them into their carts, ensuring that their purchases are handled safely and efficiently. Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area is crucial, and you will be expected to use company-approved cleaners and equipment to uphold these standards. Safety is a top priority, and you will be required to work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries while observing and reporting any instances of shoplifting. This position may also involve cross-training in other departments, providing you with a well-rounded experience in our retail environment.

Requirements
- Read basic information which contains a number of details and describes procedures involving several steps
- Basic computer and math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays
- Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule
- Adherence to dress code, appearance and personal hygiene standards
