About the position

As a Cashier at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service while ensuring efficient checkout processes. Your primary responsibilities will include engaging with customers, accurately processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment. You will be responsible for bagging and transporting groceries, locating products, and conducting price verifications to ensure customer satisfaction. This position requires a friendly demeanor and the ability to handle various customer service duties while adhering to company policies and safety procedures. In this role, you will ensure correct checkout totals by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items, while maintaining an accurate money count in the register at all times. You will need to access or memorize product codes and stay familiar with promotional items and special offers. A key aspect of your job will be to remain current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods, including checks, credit, debit, coupons, and government assistance programs. You will also promote the Thank You Card program and assist customers with the sign-up process. Properly bagging groceries is essential, as you will need to group like items together, limit bag weight, and prevent food cross-contamination. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning supply stations are stocked and presentable. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment is crucial, and you will be accountable for adhering to all local, state, and federal laws regarding the sale of restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers and provide efficient checkout services.
• Bag and transport groceries accurately and safely.

• Stay current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
• Maintain a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and answering questions.
• Promote enrollment in the Thank You Card program and assist customers with the sign-up process.
• Ensure groceries are bagged properly to prevent cross-contamination and ensure customer receipt of all items.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning supply stations.
• Adhere to company safety procedures and maintain a sanitary working environment.
• Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding sales of restricted items.

Requirements
