Responsibilities

  • Greet, engage, and assist customers actively.
  • Process customer transactions quickly and accurately through the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system effectively.
  • Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, and SNAP EBT.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages and overages.
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay informed about current, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
  • Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report issues to management.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions.

Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
