About the position

The Cashier position at Hill College involves performing general cashiering functions, bookkeeping procedures, and supporting office operations within the Business Office. The role requires attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage stress while interacting with various levels of the organization. The Cashier will handle cash transactions, assist with registration activities, and ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Issues receipts for cash, checks, credit cards, and money orders received by Hill College.
  • Completes daily reconciliation and closing of credit card machines and reconciliation of cash receipts.
  • Processes and distributes all incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring correct postage on outgoing mail and packages.
  • Oversees the JCC mailroom copier.
  • Provides support in preparation and execution of registration activities.
  • Processes student holds and letters for Return to Title IV withdrawals.
  • Prepares and maintains paperwork for temporary loans, petty cash funds, and student holds on accounts with the Administrative Services.
  • Checks in/out business office-related credit cards.
  • Assists in processing and reporting unclaimed property.
  • Responds to and resolves the concerns of disgruntled customers.
  • Cashes checks for Hill College employees.
  • Disburses student refund checks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Two years of general office experience, including experience with handling cash.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the Hill College vision and mission.
  • Working knowledge of the J1 system, including the student billing/receivables and fiscal system.
  • Working knowledge of the student tuition installment payment program.
