About the position

As a Cashier at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service while ensuring efficient checkout processes. Your primary responsibilities will include engaging with customers, accurately processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment. You will be responsible for bagging and transporting groceries, locating products, and conducting price verifications to ensure customer satisfaction. Your proficiency in handling transactions and accuracy in tender will be crucial in maintaining the trust of our customers. You will also be expected to stay informed about product codes, promotions, and company policies to assist customers effectively. In this role, you will be required to maintain a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude, greeting customers, answering their questions, and addressing any complaints they may have. You will promote the Thank You Card program and assist customers with the sign-up process. Proper bagging techniques will be essential to prevent food cross-contamination and ensure that customers receive all purchased items. You will also be responsible for keeping front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning supply stations stocked and presentable, contributing to a pleasant shopping experience. Safety is a top priority at Brookshire Grocery Company, and you will be expected to adhere to all safety procedures and comply with local, state, and federal laws regarding the sale of restricted items. Your ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy will be key to your success in this position. You will also need to be flexible with your schedule, as this role may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Engages with customers and provides efficient checkout services.
• Bags and transports groceries accurately and safely.
• Locates products and conducts price verifications.
• Maintains proficiency regarding transactions and accuracy of tender.
• Ensures correct checkout totals by weighing, keying, and scanning items.
• Maintains accurate money count in the register at all times.
• Accesses or memorizes product codes and remains familiar with ad and special items.
• Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
• Maintains a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and answering questions.
• Promotes enrollment in the Thank You Card program and assists customers with sign-up process.
• Ensures groceries are bagged properly to prevent cross-contamination and ensure customer receipt of all items.
• Maintains clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures regarding sales of restricted items.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of cash register operations.
