The Cashier position at Jay C Stores focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The role involves processing customer transactions efficiently while maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages customer return. Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers actively.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, and SNAP EBT.
• Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages and overages, ensuring honest and effective loss control.
• Comply with guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol and tobacco.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay informed about current, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs.

Requirements

• Customer service experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
