About the position

The Casual Community Program Manager at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa is a temporary part-time role focused on ensuring compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and managing communication related to public safety. The position involves collaboration with various departments to gather and analyze crime reporting data, perform audits, and respond to public inquiries. This role is essential for maintaining safety standards and effective communication within the university community.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate UH Manoa's compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act.
  • Work collaboratively with Campus Security Authorities and internal departments as a liaison for various compliance acts.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure Clery Act compliance and respond to external audits.
  • Assist in maintaining the Clery Compliance website.
  • Write, edit, and publish emergency notices and warnings as required by the Clery Act.
  • Gather, research, analyze, and disseminate information on crime-related and public safety topics.
  • Assist the Chief and Deputy Chief in responding to public information requests.
  • Serve as a liaison to the UH Communications Department.
  • Assist in updating the DPS Strategic Report.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of special and periodic reports for executive management review.
  • Manage communication plans regarding critical incidents affecting health and safety.
  • Respond or coordinate responses to public and media requests for information.

Requirements

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in strategic management, community relations, compliance, or government relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems using creative reasoning and logic.
  • Ability to interpret and present information clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer and using word processing software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience handling Clery Compliance matters.
  • Experience reviewing public safety or crime reports.
  • Experience working in higher education or a university setting.
  • Proficient writing skills, including proofreading and copy editing.
  • Working knowledge of university safety and security regulations.

Benefits

  • Salary of $37.66 per hour
  • Temporary full-time position for up to 89 days
