About the position

The position involves preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping fresh produce, as well as cooking food according to established recipes and quality standards. The role requires operating kitchen equipment, monitoring food quality, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The culinary associate will also engage in ongoing training to enhance their culinary skills and ensure adherence to the Gold Standards of The Ritz-Carlton.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards.
• Prepare cold foods and operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
• Monitor food quality while preparing food and ensure proper portioning when serving.
• Set up and break down work station before and after shifts.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.
• Follow all company and safety policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance needs or unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance and protect company assets.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members and respond appropriately to their concerns.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
