About the position

The Casual On Board Vessel Server is responsible for providing excellent customer service aboard ferries, taking orders, and delivering food and beverages to customers. This part-time position requires compliance with safe food handling practices and ensuring that guests ordering alcoholic beverages are of legal age. The role involves maintaining cleanliness in the service area and operating a cash register for transactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service that promotes satisfaction
• Greet customers and present menu in a friendly and accommodating manner
• Make recommendations or share additional information upon request
• Take and serve food/drinks orders and upsell any additional products
• Ensure all guests ordering and/or receiving alcoholic beverages are at least 21 years of age by checking approved forms of identification
• Operate a point-of-sale cash register, accurately recording all sales and processing payments
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in all service and table areas
• Follow established safety practices to protect self, co-workers, and the public
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors

Requirements

• Ability to operate a cash register and accurately process transactions
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices
• Ability to effectively communicate with guests and co-workers
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs without restrictions
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 100% of the working day
• Ability to provide superior customer service

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience as a server is preferred
