About the position

The Casual On Board Vessel Server is responsible for providing excellent customer service aboard ferries, taking orders, and delivering food and beverages to guests. This part-time position requires adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, as well as compliance with age restrictions for alcohol service. The role involves operating a cash register and maintaining a clean service area, with no guaranteed minimum hours or assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service that promotes satisfaction
  • Greet customers and present menu in a friendly and accommodating manner
  • Make recommendations or share additional information upon request
  • Take and serve food/drinks orders and upsell any additional products
  • Ensure all guests ordering and/or receiving alcoholic beverages are at least 21 years of age by checking approved forms of identification
  • Operate a point-of-sale cash register, accurately recording all sales and collecting payments
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in all service and table areas
  • Follow established safety practices to protect self, co-workers, and the public
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors
  • Provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism to all customers

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a cash register and accurately record sales
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests and co-workers
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs without restrictions
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 100% of the working day
  • Ability to provide superior customer service

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a server is preferred
