About the position

As a Casual Scientific Editor at UTHealth Houston, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of scientific documentation, particularly in the preparation and issuance of grants, contracts, and manuscripts. This position requires advanced editorial and writing skills, with a strong emphasis on ensuring compliance with necessary standards for funding opportunities. You will be responsible for preparing and editing grant proposals and contracts, assisting investigators in securing extramural funding, and providing support for annual reporting to granting agencies. Your expertise will also be utilized in assisting faculty with grant renewals and extensions, as well as external publication document editing and writing. This role demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to reorganize and reconstruct documents to improve logical presentation, coherence, and clarity. Responsibilities

  • Prepares and edits grant proposals, contracts or other science-related documentation ensuring compliance with necessary standards.
  • Assists investigators with proposal editing and writing to secure extramural funding via the outreach program.
  • Provides support for the annual reporting to granting agencies, ensuring accuracy of the information and data.
  • Assists faculty with grant renewal and extension editing and writing.
  • Assists faculty with external publication document editing and writing, providing major reorganization/reconstruction of documents and/or extensive rewriting to enhance logical presentation, coherence, and clarity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Science or related field.
  • Five years of writing/editing science-related grants, publications, etc.
