About the position

The Catalina Generation Production Senior Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) is responsible for overseeing the safe and compliant operation and maintenance of Catalina's generation fleet, which includes diesel-fired generators, battery energy storage, and propane-fired microturbines. This role also encompasses the management of water and gas utility systems, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability. The position plays a crucial role in supporting SCE's mission to reduce carbon emissions and promote cleaner energy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategic plans for power generation and water and gas utilities, aligning with the overall business objectives of SCE.
  • Oversees the optimization of power generation, water and gas operations, ensuring efficiency in plant performance, reliability, and availability while minimizing downtime.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, environmental standards, safety protocols and external operational coordination with key island stakeholders.
  • Manages the budget for power generation, water and gas activities, optimizing resource allocation, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising operational effectiveness.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks associated with power generation, water and gas operations, including issues related to equipment failure, supply chain disruptions, and environmental impact.
  • Drives initiatives to promote environmental sustainability, including the adoption of renewable energy sources, emission reduction strategies, and waste management programs.
  • Establishes key performance indicators and monitors and reports on the performance of power generation, water and gas operations, making data-driven decisions to improve overall efficiency.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience developing and/or constructing multiple generation technologies.
  • Experience with grid operations and/or generation dispatch operations.
  • 7 or more years of power generation operations or maintenance experience.
  • 3 or more years of water and/or gas utility operations or maintenance experience.
