About the position

The Catastrophe Operations Department at Erie Insurance is seeking a dedicated individual to handle catastrophe property claims. This position is primarily work-from-home, allowing for flexibility while serving clients across the ERIE operating footprint, which includes states such as Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. The successful candidate will exercise independent discretion and judgment in managing all types of catastrophe property claims, ensuring that policyholders receive the support they need during challenging times. In this role, you will establish immediate contact with policyholders regarding their losses, driving to the site of damage within your assigned territory or beyond as required. You will set and manage adequate reserves within your designated authority, properly identify and assess damage, determine liability, and evaluate the total value of claims. Additionally, you will prepare estimates related to identified damages, negotiate with contractors and policyholders, and document all claim activities thoroughly to ensure compliance and facilitate closure. When not deployed on catastrophe duty, you will assist assigned field offices in handling day-to-day property claims, providing support and expertise to bring these claims to resolution. The position also involves attending industry-related training programs to stay current on legal developments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A company car with a paid gas card will be provided for travel, and there is a fantastic bonus opportunity along with the chance to grow within an award-winning company.
