About the position

The Catastrophe Site Auto Appraiser at Sedgwick is responsible for inspecting, identifying, and evaluating auto vehicles involved in a loss. This role involves appraising vehicle damages, determining repair costs, and working directly with auto repair facilities to facilitate the repair process. The position requires significant travel to various inspection locations and demands strong knowledge of automobiles and appraisal software.

Responsibilities

  • Appraises and determines costs of repairs to damaged vehicles in the field.
  • Evaluates and determines if the vehicle is repairable or salvageable based on industry standard estimating software.
  • Travels to inspection locations to appraise vehicles in the field.
  • Prepares estimates using estimating software.
  • Works directly with auto repair facilities to determine supplemental repair processing and provides a supplemental estimate.
  • Greets customers and explains the scan estimating and repair process.
  • Triages vehicles by uploading photos, assessing damage, and noting prior damage.
  • Manually inspects vehicles that do not qualify for scanning.
  • Assists Tech Scanner with vehicle scanning and returns vehicles to customers.
  • Soft sells the repair process and explains program benefits.
  • Supports local appraiser coverage, desk review, and quality assurance team during off-season.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Licenses as required by state guidelines.
  • Three (3) years of related experience, including at least one (1) year of appraisal experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of automobiles.
  • Ability to understand and utilize appraisal software.
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.
