About the position

The Category Analyst role at Danone North America focuses on providing category analysis and support to drive growth with customers. The position involves deriving insights from category analyses to assist the Category Management and Sales Teams in developing profitable category and customer plans. The analyst will manage and analyze data to create reporting tools that deliver actionable recommendations and identify growth opportunities, while also supporting customers with planogram building recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses and use data to drive category insights that help shape the category vision
  • Collect and mine through market research and customer-based shopper insights and run correlation analysis to understand levers driving category growth
  • Perform competitive analysis by category to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges
  • Conduct category and channel analysis for customers to drive growth period over period
  • Discover and share category trends, fair share opportunity gaps, and share of wallet and leakage opportunities
  • Create reports including customer market performance, distribution grids, new product tracking, velocity reports, and pricing & promotion analysis
  • Establish strong knowledge of the customer/category and Danone North America product line to assist in strategic business calls
  • Lead planogram development process and adjacency analysis
  • Help drive customer overall category shelving strategy
  • Build iterations of customer-specific category planograms as aligned with customer and Category Manager
  • Serve as an active member of the customer Category Management team
  • Ensure customers are using the newest/best class category management insights
  • Provide sales personnel with data to initiate/drive/optimize/fix the mix, shelving, and assortment initiatives
  • Develop data tools and reporting suite by incorporating multiple data sources into reporting tools
  • Provide best-practice insights back to Center of Excellence
  • Contribute to a category center of excellence using shopper insights and research to create category stories
  • Share success stories and opportunities with Center of Excellence

Requirements

  • 4 year college degree in Business or related field (Finance, etc.)
  • 1-3 years previous work experience
  • Knowledge of syndicated or mass retailer data and space management preferred
  • Expert in Excel to migrate multiple data sources into reporting tools
  • Occasional travel required
