About the position

The Category and Strategic Sourcing Manager - Construction Services will lead the sourcing of construction services to support Microsoft's datacenter build program across the AMER region. This role is critical in establishing a supply chain that meets the growing demands of the cloud and involves managing complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-billion dollar projects. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure optimal cost, service continuity, and compliance with Microsoft's values of respect, integrity, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sourcing of construction services for datacenter projects across the AMER region.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for complex purchasing categories.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define supplier scorecard criteria and manage supplier performance reviews.
  • Negotiate master agreements and manage contract and price negotiation activities.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive continuous improvement with suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and educate stakeholders on policy adherence.
  • Manage procurement requests and resolve escalated pricing issues.
  • Develop pricing and negotiation strategies for complex purchasing categories.
  • Engage with potential supply chain partners and lead the onboarding process.
  • Communicate effectively with executive management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, operations-related roles, or engineering.
  • 8+ years of construction experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a cross-functional team environment on large scale capital or hyperscale datacenter programs.
  • 3+ years of experience negotiating master agreements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Quantity Surveying or related construction qualification.
  • 10+ years of post-graduate experience in construction supply chain and/or procurement for large complex capital projects.
  • Knowledge of the datacenter industry and experience managing various project delivery methods.
  • Ability to work independently and within a matrixed environment.
  • Experience in setting up and managing category management plans.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills for reporting on OKRs.
