About The Position

The QBP Category Business Manager is a dynamic leader responsible for managing the product category business, specifically focusing on E-Bike Systems and Bicycle Components. This role involves strategic planning, financial accountability, and leading a cross-functional team to achieve category goals aligned with QBP's long-term vision. The manager will develop and implement category strategies, oversee pricing and assortment plans, and track performance metrics to ensure success in the competitive cycling market.

Requirements

  • 6 years of relevant experience
  • Prior management experience in product categories and assortment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and disseminate information accurately based on your audience
  • Financially literate with the ability to create pricing plans which drive customer success and company profitability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient analytical skills which includes the ability to visually model out the work
  • Ability to create product plans that span multiple years as well as recognize proactively when the plans need to be adjusted based on changing market trends
  • Ability to understand who the customer is and what product the customer needs
  • Ability to say no in order to keep the product category true to what it is
  • Deep understanding of the bicycle market related to market trends and competitive landscape
  • People Leadership with proven leadership skills leading direct reports and in-direct employees
  • Experience managing complicated business portfolio & having exhibited strategic decision
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functionally, working with leaders on strategic direction and team members on tactical details
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to thrive in change as both a high-level strategic thinker and hands-on operator who delivers results

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Provide vision and develop strategy for the category that informs clear action and decision-making outcomes executed by sales, purchasing, product and marketing.
  • Develop 3-5 year strategic category plans that align to proprietary long range goals and inform proprietary brand Go to Market planning.
  • Derive annual business plans and objectives from the 3-5 year strategic category plans.
  • Create clear product 'Build, Buy, Partner' targets in alignment with company priorities and category market opportunities.
  • Lead and support a cross functional team ensuring alignment and execution towards category strategy and financial targets.
  • Implement and lead regular category team meetings, clearly define team participation expectations, and develop a group of engaged employees focused on category results.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to category team employees related to functional area contributions and executions to category results.
  • Drive team participation and execution of Monthly Category Reviews (MCR) that inform and communicate category success and action to QBP leadership.
  • Develop pricing strategies that successfully balance QBP profitability with competitive market position and customer retention.
  • Maintain and implement pricing action that support category strategies, season promotion, end of life execution and excess inventory reduction.
  • Develop product assortment plans that clearly support long range plans and meet category financial targets.
  • Identify future product and sub-category targets that align towards industry trend and support customer needs.
  • Maintain a category product assortment that meets all necessary product safety and regulatory requirements and that aligns to QBP values.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of category assortment performance evaluating SKU productivity and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and negotiate terms to optimize product availability, pricing, and exclusivity.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to category performance, including sales, margin, inventory turnover, and market share.
